Charbonnet, Jeanne-Michèle, Sopran, * ?; Soprano Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet is a regular guest of leading opera companies throughout the world, appearing on the stages of the San Francisco Opera (Cio-Cio-San/Madama Butterfly, Senta/Der fliegende Holländer), Dallas Opera (Sieglinde/Die Walküre, Amelia/Un Ballo in Maschera, and the title role in Aida), New Orleans Opera (title roles in Ariadne auf Naxos, Aida), Opera Colorado (title roles in Fidelio, Aida, and Turandot, and Senta), Opera Pacific (Senta), San Diego Opera (Amelia/Un Ballo in Maschera), New York City Opera (Elena/Mefistofele and Yaroslavna/Prince Igor), Opera Ontario (Amelia/Simon Boccanegra), Palm Beach Opera (Santuzza/ Cavalleria Rusticana), Sarasota Opera (title roles in Francesca da Rimini by Rachmaninoff and Iolanta by Tchaikovsky), and Opera de Quebec (Aida). In Europe, Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet has appeared with the Teatro La Fenice (title role in Tosca, Senta, and Cio-Cio-San), Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Senta), Bregenz Festival and the Teatro Comunale di Firenze (Amelia/Un Ballo in Maschera). She has also performed Aida in Amsterdam, Essen and Marseille. Recent notable engagements include L'espace dernier at the Opéra National de Paris, Kundry/Parsifal at the Opéra National du Rhin, the title role of Rolf Liebermann's Medea at the Opéra National de Paris, Die Walküre at the Teatro Real Madrid, Senta at the Spoleto Festival, USA, a return to the New Orleans Opera as Brünnhilde/Die Walküre and to Florence as Lady Macbeth/Macbeth. Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet has also appeared in Tristan und Isolde at both the Geneva Opera and Teatro San Carlo Naples. Her engagements this past season have included Les Rois and Turandot at the Opéra National de Bordeaux and Bluebeard`s Castle at the Opéra National de Paris with James Conlon. Future engagements include Venus/Tannhäuser at the Geneva Opera, and Ortrud/Lohengrin in Santiago. She will open the 2005/2006 season at the Teatro San Carlo Naples as Leonore in a new production of Fidelio and counts amongst her plans her first complete Ring Cycle at the Opéra National du Rhin, in Strasbourg. |
